Private Driver & Houseman – Knightsbridge, £60,000 plus £6,000 expenses

A private family is seeking an experienced, hands-on Private Driver & Houseman to join their household in Knightsbridge. This is a varied role combining professional chauffeuring with practical household support, suited to someone who is polished behind the wheel and equally happy turning their hand to whatever the day brings. The family spends roughly half the year in the UK and half abroad, so the role is busy when they are in residence and much lighter when they are away.

The Role

  • Providing safe, punctual and discreet driving for family members and guests, including airport transfers, meetings, appointments and social engagements

  • Keeping the family vehicles immaculate and roadworthy, and coordinating servicing, MOT and insurance

  • Supporting the household with errands, shopping, deliveries, collections, dry cleaning and returns

  • Assisting with luggage, packing and unpacking, and supporting family arrivals, departures and guest visits

  • Becoming familiar with the property's heating, air conditioning, lighting, security and other household systems, and carrying out basic troubleshooting and minor repairs

  • Liaising with the PA, building management and contractors, and following issues up until they are resolved

  • Keeping the property secure and well looked after while the family is abroad, including post, deliveries, plant care and household checks, in coordination with the PA

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Private Chauffeur, ideally within an HNW or UHNW private household

  • A combined Chauffeur & Houseman background would be ideal

  • Full, clean UK driving licence and excellent knowledge of London roads and airports

  • Practical and resourceful, with confidence handling basic troubleshooting and a willingness to learn household systems

  • Flexible, proactive and happy to muck in on any task

  • Discreet, reliable and comfortable working around a private family

  • Legal right to work in the UK and excellent professional references

Details

Location: Knightsbridge, London

Salary: £60,000 gross per year, plus £500 per month expense allowance for meals, transport and internet (£66,000 total package)

Hours: Typically 7:30am to 7:30pm when the family is in the UK; significantly reduced when they are abroad. Saturdays are not regular working days, with occasional weekend work for airport transfers and special occasions
