They would like someone relaxed and easy going who will be able to change tack if a different dish is requested. Some Michelin restaurant experience as well as private family experience is required.

 

The role will likely be structured as follows: June (in London), then July, August through to Labor Day (Sept 4th) in the Hamptons (Watermill, NY). They would probably want a trial in London, so could be May through to Labor Day.

When in residence, you will work for longer stretches, taking a chunk of time off but it will be largely dependent on the family’s movements and social calendar.

The family are very organised so any travel plans are made well in advance, menus are prepared for the week ahead and there is always plenty of warning if there are extra guests.

The Principal's two youngest children attend a nearby boarding school and will be using the property for weekends and leisure. There is one other Domestic Couple at the property who focus on the interior of the property, so this position will be focused on the exterior, with duties such as gardening and maintenance. There will also be some housekeeping duties to support the requirements of the household, particularly when the Principal is in residence. You should be happy to assist as needed and work as a team with the other household couple, providing cover when they take leave, to ensure security of property and general property checks.

Key Duties:

  • Maintain property grounds, heavily focused on gardening duties

  • Maintenance of the exterior facilities

  • Handling and maintaining relevant machinery and equipment.

  • Mowing, hedge trimming, strimming, general tidying.

  • Minor property maintenance.

  • Housekeeping duties to support the other couple with the requirements of the family.

  • Errands/Driving may be required when the family is in residence.


Additional requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a private household setting

  • Experience in a gardening/maintenance-focused position

  • Valid and clean UK driving license (at least one of the couple must drive)

  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to manage workload

  • Fluent English

  • Additional training would be favoured (spraying, chainsaw, etc.).

  • Only non-smoking candidates will be considered


Start date: Approx. June 2024 (Flexible for an earlier start if needed)
Salary: £70k-80k gpa DOE
