House Manager, Chelsea, £70k - £80k GPA
An international UHNW principal is looking for a polished and proactive House Manager to run their exquisite Chelsea home. The townhouse is small and very private, with silk wallpaper, fine antiques, a significant art collection and luxury finishes throughout. It needs someone with a genuine eye for detail who will keep it looking immaculate.
You will report to the Operations Manager, who oversees the family office, and work alongside a full-time Housekeeper. The principal spends part of the year in London and works from home while in residence, so discretion and a calm, ‘concierge-style’ approach to service are essential. When the principal is away, the focus moves to projects, maintenance and preparing the house for their return.
The client will also consider candidates at Assistant House Manager level who are ready for a step up.
Key Responsibilities
Managing the day-to-day running of the property and keeping it presented to the highest standard
Caring for fine art, antiques, fine furniture and collectables
Managing the Housekeeper, including rotas, holidays and records
Overseeing laundry and wardrobe care, and stepping in to cover housekeeping when needed
Sourcing and managing contractors, maintenance and projects
Managing household budgets, invoices, petty cash and, after probation, the household bank account
Supervising food shopping and preparing light meals for the principal
Acting as the main point of contact for the principal, including PA cover, appointments and errands
Travelling with the principal and managing packing and unpacking
The Ideal Candidate
Experience as a House Manager, Assistant House Manager or senior interior crew in a UHNW household, on a superyacht or in a five-star hotel
Superyacht interior experience is highly desirable, although strong land-based candidates will also be considered
A real eye for detail and design, with confidence caring for antiques, artwork and luxury finishes
Organised and reliable, and comfortable managing contractors, budgets and records
Highly discreet, polished and calm under pressure
Fluent English
Flexible and happy to travel
Excellent, verifiable references
