Monday–Friday Nanny – Driver Essential – Finchley, North London, up to £25 gross per hour
A lovely, down-to-earth family in Finchley is looking for a warm, capable and proactive Nanny to join their household from October. The successful candidate will initially work alongside the family’s current nanny, with a view to taking over the role fully by the end of November.
This is primarily a driving and after-school support role. The family have three children: two daughters, aged 14 and 16, who are largely self-sufficient and mainly require support with transport to and from school and activities. Their son will begin his 11+ preparation in November, running through to February, and this will be an important part of the role.
The family are looking for someone bright, organised and proactive, who can help their son stay on top of his 11+ preparation. This isn't a formal tutoring position, but they would like someone who is confident sitting down with him, helping him organise his revision, keeping him motivated and ensuring he stays on track. A background in teaching, schools or tutoring would be a bonus, but the most important thing is having the right level of intelligence, initiative and organisational skills.
The ideal candidate will be confident, sensible and able to use their initiative. They should enjoy being part of a busy family household and be happy to get stuck in wherever needed. Someone with previous school or family experience would be particularly well suited to the role.
Essential Requirements
• Own car and confident driving daily
• Live locally in or very near Finchley – no long-distance commuting
• University educated
• Bright, organised and proactive
• Confident supporting a child through the 11+ preparation process
• Previous teaching, tutoring or school experience would be advantageous
Duties & Responsibilities
• School pick-ups and drop-offs
• Driving the children to and from extracurricular activities
• Supporting the son with his 11+ preparation, helping him organise and structure his revision
• Keeping him motivated and on track with his preparation
• Being a calm, organised and reliable presence within a busy family home
• Meal planning and preparing shopping lists
• Liaising with the family's cook to ensure meals are organised and ready
• Light tidying after the children
• Occasional additional babysitting when required
The successful candidate will simply be expected to keep on top of general tidying after the children. On the food side, the main responsibility will be meal planning, putting together the shopping list, liaising with the cook and ensuring dinner gets from the fridge to the table.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2pm–8pm during term time. There is no regular weekend work.
During the school holidays, hours will typically extend to approximately 7am–7pm. However, the family are usually away for much of the school holidays and are generally only at home for around 3–4 weeks over the summer. Full-day flexibility during the holidays is therefore required, but these longer hours will not be constant.
Salary: up to £25 gross per hour
