Part-Time Housekeeper, Country Estate, East Sussex, £18-20 gross per hour

A lovely opportunity has arisen for a reliable, friendly and hardworking Housekeeper to join a welcoming household on a beautiful private estate in East Sussex. This is a part-time role, working as part of a small, dedicated team to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the home.

Reporting to the Head Housekeeper and House Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the household and help ensure the comfort and wellbeing of the Principal, their dogs, and any visiting guests.
The ideal candidate will take genuine pride in their work, have excellent attention to detail, and bring a proactive, flexible approach along with the highest levels of discretion, privacy and professionalism.

The Role

  • Maintaining the home and outbuildings to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and presentation

  • Vacuuming carpets and rugs, sweeping and mopping hard floors, and dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork and decorative items

  • Cleaning and sanitising kitchens, bathrooms and other living areas using approved products

  • Tidying bedrooms, living spaces and wardrobes, and changing bed linen and towels regularly

  • Keeping bookshelves, skirting boards and other detailed areas clean and dust-free

  • Reporting any maintenance issues or damaged items to the Head Housekeeper

  • Assisting with the laundering and ironing of clothing, household linen and bedding, with care for garments and fabrics according to their specific requirements

  • Helping maintain wardrobes and linen cupboards in an organised manner, including preventative measures against moths and other pests

  • Supporting the wider household team with other reasonable duties as needed


The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous housekeeping experience within a private household or similar environment

  • Organised, reliable and equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team

  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards

  • Trustworthy, discreet and respectful of the household's privacy

  • Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of household tasks as required

  • A positive, can-do attitude and enjoyment of a collaborative environment

  • Desirable: basic sewing or clothing repair skills, and experience working in a household with dogs


Location: East Sussex
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30am–1:30pm
Start: ASAP
Salary: £18-20 gross per hour
